Kaizen Events

What is Kaizen?

Kaizen was created in Japan following World War II. The word Kaizen  means "continuous improvement". It comes from the Japanese words  "Kai" meaning change and "Zen" meaning good. Kaizen is making good changes.

Kaizen is a system that involves all employees - All are encouraged to come up with small improvement suggestions on a regular basis.

What is a Kaizen event?

Kaizen Events are an extremely effective way to quickly improve a process with lots of waste and a low Sigma Score.

There are point Kaizen and flow Kaizen events. Kaizen events are usually performed by a team of people that own the process with at least one outsider.

Kaizen events at GCI Engineering

Kaizen events first need to be properly planned with data collection and pre-kaizen activities..

The event it self can be 1,2,3,4 or 5 days of intensive, dedicated, organized activities. The events always start with training followed by
focused employee driven improvements.

GCI's Kaizen Events always have a follow-up meeting to review and celebrate results.
